The colors and textures of this modern home in Melbourne, Australia make for a bold and inviting space. The pink concrete island dreamed up by the owners and the brass cabinets which were treated with Apple Cider Vinegar by their friends at a "Cider Party" are the stand out elements in this house's beautiful kitchen. The owner, Alex McCabe says "Don't worry about trying to find things that 'match', if you love it, it goes!" It's this attitude combined with a flare of tropical whimsy that makes this home one of our favorites.

About half of the furniture in Alex McCabe's house is vintage. There's a "deliciously worn" 1970s brown leather lotus couch, a 1950s Danish dining table set and some super comfortable vintage armchairs. There are 1960s papier mâché pots from India, miniature corn ceramic men from the Rose Bowl Flea Market, and vintage German pottery. But it's not all old things; Alex renovated the house last year, and the furniture and material choices are modern, unusual, and extraordinarily inspiring.
